Robert J. Huber passed away in Bountiful, UT on January 4, 2015. Bob was born July 10, 1935, to Robert E. and Pamella (Lewis) Huber in Payson, UT, where he graduated from high school. Bob married Virginia Goldberg on September 20, 1957. They were married for 57 years, and were the parents of three sons.
He attended the University of Utah where he received both undergraduate and doctoral degrees in physics. After earning his Ph.D., he initially worked in nuclear physics, but he soon left that to join the emerging field of semiconductor devices and microelectronics. While still consulting in this industry, he joined the faculty of the University of Utah where he became a Professor of Electrical Engineering. He was a talented teacher, able to explain complex concepts in an understandable manner.
Bob was kind man who loved his family, his friends, and the outdoors. He was happiest when sharing adventures in the wilderness with the people he cared about, whether it was a family houseboat trip to Lake Powell, or one of many weekends spent taking the Boy Scouts on
camp-outs, and snow and water skiing outings.
Bob is survived by his wife, Virginia, his sons: Bill Huber (Lisa) of Haughton, LA; John Huber (Debbie) of Gilbert, AZ; Scott Huber (Don) of New York City; and his grandchildren: Emma and Leah Huber of Haughton, LA and Jacob, Zachary, and Noah Huber of Gilbert, AZ. He is also survived by his brother, Paul L. Huber (Eileen) of Bountiful, UT, and sister, Carol Neal (Tim), of Los Alamos, NM.
Funeral services will be held at 1 pm on Friday, January 9, 2015 at Russon Brothers Mortuary, 295 N. Main, Bountiful UT. Friends may call at the Mortuary from 6-8 pm on Thursday, January 8, and from 12 to 1 pm on Friday, January 9.
