Robert James (Jim) Steenblik

December 29, 1940 — August 17, 2015

Robert James (Jim) Steenblik, 74, died peacefully at home on August 17, 2015.  He was born December 29, 1940 to Joseph F. and Ruth Steenblik in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Following graduation from West High School in 1959, Jim served in the United States Air Force and then as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Netherlands, the Steenblik ancestral home.  Jim graduated from the University of Utah where he met his Sweetheart, Vicky.  His career in banking began in Oregon and continued in Salt Lake City where he worked as a Trust Officer, Private Banker and Vice President for several banks.  Jim was active in community and civic affairs, serving as president of the Utah Lung Association and on the boards of many charitable organizations.  He loved family vacations, especially trips to Yellowstone and the Oregon Coast. Throughout his life, he served faithfully in many callings for the Church.  Above all, he served and loved his wife.  He so often told his family how much he loved their mother.  They celebrated 51 years of loving marriage on July 9, 2015.
Jim is survived by his beloved wife Vicky; his children Trevor (Kristeen,) Janalee (Bryan Boam,) Jared (Rachel,) Jason (Wendy,) and Matthew; grandchildren Janel, Mason (serving an LDS mission,) Brandon (serving and LDS mission,) Jamie, Angela, Zachary, Jacob, Nicholas, Hyrum, Cole, Porter, Gavin and Cade.  He is also survived by his siblings and in-laws Don Burningham, Polly Steenblik, Virginia and Verl Talbot, Reid and Liz Steenblik, Julie and Jay Jensen, LeGrande and Cindy Steenblik, Norma Edwards, Gregg and Pam Edwards, Val and Kathy Edwards and Brad and Shauna Edwards.  He is predeceased by his sister Jane Burningham, his brother John and sister-in-law Ann Burningham.  
A viewing will be held at the Russon Brothers Mortuary, 295 North Main Street, Bountiful, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Friday, August 21.  The funeral service will be held at the LDS Chapel at 165 South 1000 East, Bountiful, at 11:00 am on Saturday, August 22, where a viewing will be held from 9:30 to 10:45 am. prior to services.
