Robert Lewis Sandberg

Robert Lewis Sandberg (Bob, Bobby) passed away peacefully at his home on October 22nd at the age of 79.

He was born on August 2, 1937 to William Andrew Sandberg and Lucille Georgia Hedman Sandberg in Litchfield Minnesota. Bob received a law degree from Gustavus College.  He was athletic and played many sports during high school and college including: Basketball, Baseball and football.

He converted to the LDS church at the age of 21.  He served in various callings including a 2 ½ year LDS mission to Sweden at the age of 27, Ward and Stake YM President, Elders Quorum President, ward clerk and ordinance worker at the Bountiful temple.

A few years after he returned from his mission he moved to SLC to work on his family history.  He was called to serve as the YM president in his ward where he met Christel Doris Noss (the YW president).  Christel had recently gone through a divorce and was living in SLC with her two sons Ken and Ron Buckmiller.  Bob helped her through this trying time.  They later married and were sealed on April 10, 1975 in the SLC Temple.

Bob worked at Reliance Insurance Company for 27 years as a regional negotiator/trial monitor in 10 western states. He was also an avid sports fan.  All who knew him knew his love for his BYU Cougars.  He was a BYU Football season ticket holder for 30 years and a member of the Cougar Club.

Survived by his brother John Sandberg (Phyllis), stepson Ron (Lisa)  Buckmiller, daughter-in- law Jill (Lynn) Wright, and many nieces, nephews and grandchildren. Preceded in death by his wife Christel, his parents and stepson Kenneth Buckmiller.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday October 27th at11am at the Woodland Hills Chapel 640 South 750 East, Bountiful. Friends and family may call on Wednesday October 26th from 6:30-8:30 pm at Russon Brothers Mortuary, 295 North Main, Bountiful. And Thursday 9:45-10:30 am at the church prior to services.
