Robert Earl Philbrick
1924 – 2013

Robert Earl Philbrick, 88, died peacefully at home on January 24, 2013.
Born March 16, 1924 in Everett, Washington to Paul Robert Lewis Philbrick and Grace Liberty Graham. He served in the US Navy during World War II as a radar technician on the USS Knapp.
Robert and Norma Jean Huish were married in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on September 3, 1947. Bob and Norma met on the dance floor at BYU and have been spinning, swirling and stepping lively most of their married life. Bob always had the biggest smile on his face when he was dancing with Norma. After graduating from BYU he earned a Master degree from Purdue University. He spent the next 34 years working for Utah Department of Employment Security. He was one of the founding directors of the Salt Lake Community Action Program and served on their board for over 35 years.
Bob served faithfully in many church callings including Bishop, Patriarch and to his last calling of sunday school class president. He spent many summers playing softball with his sons and he had a wicked pitch. Retirement life was full of many wonderful opportunities. He was able to serve with Norma in the Salt Lake Temple for over 20 years making many wonderful friends and having touching spiritual moments. They loved to camp with their friends of The Beehive Roamers. Their greatest joy were their grandchildren who they loved unconditionally.
The family would like to thank the staff of Rocky Mountain Hospice for their loving and professional care.
Survived by children, Paul (Wendy) Philbrick, Mark (Peggy) Philbrick, Diane (Bob) Campbell, and Susan (Greg) Henderson, 31 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren. Proceeded in death by parents and wife Norma Jean Huish Philbrick.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, February 2, 2013 at 11:00 am at the Rose Park North Stake Center, 1155 North 1200 West, Salt Lake City, Utah. Friends and family can visit on Friday evening, February 1, from 6-8 pm and on Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 am prior to the services. Interment at Valley View Memorial Park, 4335 West 4100 South.
