Robert Ronald Schultz

Robert Ronald Schultz (Best Buddy) was born in SLC to parents Robert Alvin Schultz and Erma Mae Simonsen, passed away in his home.
He grew up in Salt Lake City with his sister Kathleen, where he took a job at the local swimming pool as the locker/towel boy. However he liked to tell everyone he was the lifeguard even though he couldn’t swim. He graduated from South High School and took a year at the University of Utah. He followed all of the Ute’s sports.
He later met his “princess” as he called her, Sheila on a blind date. Even though she was not impressed with him at first, they later married in the Salt Lake City Temple on September 21, 1956. They moved to Centerville and soon added 5 children. As life continued, their children married where 12 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren followed.
He had a love of cars and gardening. There was nothing better than his fresh picked corn on the cob for dinner. He loved camping and telling stories around the campfire (while Princess rolled her eyes as he told stories of Mariahs cove equipped with “crevices” and Aunt Jemima. He loved hiking Spirit Lake and later in life could only make it to the creek that was in their favorite meadow.
Best worked two jobs for a while in electrical sales. Part time for Sears, and full time for UESCO. While he worked at United Electric he traveled frequently to Price and southern Utah. Every year on one of these trips back home, he would stop and cut down the family Christmas tree. He loved this, problem was his trees were always so big that we could barely make it through the front door.
He served in many callings for the Church. He was in the Elders Quorum Presidency, served as the Executive Secretary and worked as a scout leader.
He worked as a vail worker at the temple and together, he and Princess served a couples mission in New York South, during which 9/11 occurred. They also served missions at the Centerville cannery and at the Bountiful temple working the laundry.
He worked for 9 years at the Delta Center where he could enjoy his favorite sport, Basketball. He worked Center Court so he could root for the Jazz, UNLESS they were playing the Celtics. He was known to wear his Green Celtics jacket on those nights. We all remember him listening, shouting and jeering to the Utah Stars on the radio.
He is survived by his Sister Kathleen Henriod, his wife Sheila Ruth Page and their 5 children: Larry Robert (Pamela Kay), Ron (DeeAnn), Julie (Darrick) Katsilas, Lisa (Robert) Dau, David (Kristin) (preceded in death Allison); 12 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren and one on the way.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, January 27, 2022 at the Centerville Chapel, 160 South 300 East, Centerville, Utah. A viewing will be held Wednesday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Russon Mortuary, 295 North Main, Bountiful and Thursday morning from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. at the church prior to services.
