Bob, age 87, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend passed away peacefully in his sleep Friday, May 19, 2006 in Bountiful, Utah. He was born in Lebanon, Ohio, May 4, 1919 to Louis Duane and Carolyn Wood Simpkins. He and his brother Duane spent their early years in Ohio and then as teenagers moved to Salt Lake City, Utah. Bob graduated from West High School and attended LDS Business College. He served in the Army?s 757th Tank Battalion in Northern Africa and Italy. After returning home he married Ramona Foulger on April 22, 1946, their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They were the parents of four children. They raised their family in Terre Haute, Indiana, Chicago, Illinois and Holladay, Utah. He was often remembered for his quick wit and constant acts of generosity and kindness. To provide for his family he worked for ZCMI, Emporium World Chicago, CP Industries and managed the Osmond Brothers Fan Club, he was also the owner of Greenhagens Gift and Garden in Bountiful which is now J&L Garden. On October 25, 1976 Ramona passed away, which left a huge void in his life. He renewed his acquaintance with Faye C. Dunlop and they were married January 11, 1978. Faye is the mother of three children. They have enjoyed their years together living in Salt Lake City, St. George, and most recently, Bountiful, Utah. Bob liked fishing, golfing, hunting and took pride in his yards and gardens that he loved to share with everyone. He loved life and everything was GREAT in his eyes, but most of all he loved his family and friends. He missed his association with all his friends and buddies in St. George when he moved to Bountiful. They meant so much to Bob and Faye. The family wishes to thank all of his care givers for all of their tender love and care. Bob is survived by his wife, Faye, son Mark Shannan Simpkins, daughters, Meredith Cal Murri, Heidi Bill Benson, step-children Robert Diane Dunlop, Richard Carol Dunlop, and Marge Adams; 20 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
