Bob passed away March 17, 2004 at his home after a valiant fight with cancer. He was born August 1, 1918 in Magna, Utah to Norvell Valjean Wardle and Emma Tryphena Freeman. Married Lois Hansen August 17, 1940. Sealed in the Salt Lake LDS Temple April 27, 1942. Served in the 87th Golden Acorn Division during World War II. Worked on the Union Pacific Railroad, for Gray Motors, Vogue Dry Cleaning, Streets Chemical and the LDS Church Deseret Industries installing and maintaining laundry equipment for Temples and DI Stores. Served 55 years in the Boy Scouts, an Eagle Scout, Silver Beaver and numerous positions in the scouting program. Active in AARP, past commander of American Legion George Day Post 79. Held many positions within the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, presently serving as 1st Counselor in the High Priest Group Leadership. He always had a smile, time for friendly conversation and would whistle a happy tune. He loved dancing and the out of doors. He is survived by his sister, Rela Wardle; daughters, Patricia Creed Parkin, Margaret Darwin Woodruff; son, Bishop Jeffrey Joan Wardle; and brother-in-law, George Hansen; 10 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren and his loving dog, Benji. Preceded in death by his wife, parents, 2 brothers and 3 sisters. A grateful thank you to the Rocky Mountain Hospice Staff, neighbors and friends who gave such loving care. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. at the Bountiful 22nd Ward Chapel, 990 North 100 West, Bountiful, Utah, where friends may call Friday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. and Saturday morning from 11:45 a.m. – 12:45 p.m. prior to services. Interment-South Jordan City Cemetery, 10550 South 1050 West, South Jordan, Utah. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Boy Scouts of America or the Library for the Blind.
