Robert "Bob" Cutler (age 71) passed away in Bountiful, Utah after a brief battle with cancer. Bob was born to Willis Ray Cutler and Edna Laura Nielson in Alamosa, Colorado. He grew up in Denver, Colorado and graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School. He remained a loyal Denver Broncos fan throughout his life. He served an LDS mission in Buenos Aires, Argentina where he learned Spanish and developed a love of steak.
After returning from his mission, Bob went on a blind date with Luane Clement. Later that night he called home to tell his mother that "With any luck I've just met your future daughter-in-law!" It was love at first sight and two weeks later they were engaged. After three and a half months they married on November 24, 1971 in the Salt Lake City Temple. During their happy life of almost 46 years together, they raised five children.
Bob's pride and joy were his 15 grandchildren, whom he loved spending time with. Hugs and treats were never in short supply. The grandkids came to love the "balanced diet" of corn, beans, fish, and "deese" (candy corns, jelly beans, goldfish crackers and Hershey miniature candy bars) that Grandma and Papa always offered.
Bob was an excellent cook and many people will dearly miss his marinated turkey and baked beans. He was passionate about classical music. He was an avid reader and particularly enjoyed science fiction. He loved to sing and had an amazing bass voice. He was always faithful to his priesthood and served in many callings over the years. Through Bob's example, we have learned to work hard, live strong, and enjoy camping.
He worked with Monroc, the railroad, JCPenny's and many years for the LDS Church. His favorite job was as the light and sound technician for Promised Valley Playhouse in Salt Lake. Later he loved seeing the country as a long haul driver for Swift Transportation.
He was always there when you were in a bind. He was always gentle, loving, and kind to everyone. He had a soft spot in his heart for animals, leading to many pets over the years.
Bob loved camping and traveling. For the last 5 years Bob and Luane were able to "Live the Dream" of traveling with their 5th Wheel RV. They traveled through the states, visiting historic sites and having epic adventures. Together they visited many places. Among their favorites were Mt Rushmore, SD, Nauvoo, IL, Gateway Arch in St Louis, MO, Medora, ND, Santa Fe, NM, Sandpoint, ID, Buffalo, WY, Packwood, WA and Amarillo, TX. They ended every summer visiting their daughter and her family for a month or more in Vancouver, WA before heading to Hurricane, UT for the winter.
Bob was preceded in death by both his parents.
Bob leaves behind Luane, his wife of 45 years, his children Carolyn (Bob) Moultrie, Keri (Jeff) McLauchlin, John (Bethany) Cutler, Mike Cutler, Steve (Sarah) Cutler, 15 grandchildren and his sister Lauralyn Huffaker.
