Robin Francis Hood, 92, passed away peacefully on August 29, 2019 from causes due to too many birthdays. His loving wife, Luana, was by his side. He was born August 12,1927 in Los Angeles, CA to Luella Nisha Blomquist and Francis Nichol Hood. Robin graduated from Richfield High School where he was an accomplished athlete on the basketball team. He was drafted into the US Army at the young age of 18 years old and sent to Korea. He was honorably discharged, and then returned home to college. At such a young age, his experiences of war and Army life had quite an impact on his life. He originally attended BYU, but couldn't quite follow their rule system so he transferred to Utah State University to complete his education. They were more tolerant of his shenanigans and lifestyle choices. While at Utah State, he completed Officer training, graduated, and then reenlisted. He proudly served in Europe and various US locations. He married Luana Tingey on June 22,1951, and they were later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple. Robin worked for D.O.T. as an engineer and statistician. He had an incredible memory and a mind for numbers and was well respected as the expert in his field. He really loved his job. Robin retired after 39 devoted years as an Engineer for the State of Utah Department of Transportation. He was an incredible athlete who loved competitive sports; Little League, High School, College, or Professional Sports. He loved it all (and played it all). He was a great Father, Coach, Mentor, and Friend to many kids throughout his life. His quest to win in team sports could be hard on you, but his lessons of perseverance, praise, and the importance of a team effort taught us all the important life lessons. Robin always had a beautifully manicured yard and a lawn that looked like a golf green. For many, it's his sense of humor that will most be remembered. He loved to laugh. And he loved to make us laugh. He was clever and had a quick wit, but was never cruel with his humor. Even in the last chapter of his life when his mind was so confused, he still laughed. And we laughed with him.
Robin is survived by his wife Luana, children: Brian and Christine Hood, Marty Hood, Lisa and Tim Christensen, Mitch and Danielle Hood, 11 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Margaret Timoney. Robin was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers: John Hood and Rene Fournier, as well as his loving stepfather L.R. Fournier. He was also proceeded in death by his granddaughter Nisha Hood, and son-in-law Greg Charles.
