Rochelle Tew Reid

July 16, 1955 — September 16, 2023

Farmington

Rochelle Tew Reid (July 16, 1955 - September 16, 2023) lived a wonderful life and passed away peacefully in her Farmington home surrounded by family. She battled fiercely with ovarian cancer, but her spirit was eventually called home to her Father in Heaven. She left this life with an unquestioned faith in the reality of a beautiful spirit world and resurrection.

Rochelle was born in Ashton, Idaho, the third of five children born to Orson and Afton Tew. She married her eternal companion, Douglas Reid, on June 3, 1980 in the Ogden UT LDS Temple. They are blessed with eight children: Emily, Seth, Cherilyn (Kij) Bennett, Holli (Hans) Peterson, Jeanna, Jacob (Tayla), Daniel (Lindsey), and Katelyn, and six grandchildren.

Rochelle called many places home as a child, but none were more beloved than North Logan. Some of her fondest childhood memories were spent tending to her father's horses and picking apples in the family orchard. She also relished Tew and Burtenshaw family reunions and camping in Idaho and Utah. She appreciated her deep family ties and remarkable heritage.

As a young woman, Rochelle moved with her family to Bolivia where she became fluent in Spanish, a gift she cherished and used often throughout her life. She loved the Bolivian people and culture.

Rochelle loved school, where she made lifelong friends. She attended Utah State and BYU, eventually graduating in Home Economics. A gifted singer, Rochelle loved her time singing with USU's Sounds of Zion where she performed and traveled across Europe.

Rochelle always envisioned herself having a large family, and she and Doug were quickly blessed with a house filled with children. She was an incredible mother who devoted her life to serving her children and teaching them to love God and each other. She and Doug shared their love of music with their children and filled their home with beautiful music. She enjoyed helping the kids prepare to sing in church and developing their talents with various musical instruments. She cherished each one of her children and grandchildren. An instinctive nurturer and care-giver, she met the challenges that came her way with an abundance of trust in Heavenly Father's plan.

Rochelle had great faith and happily consecrated her talents for the Lord. She served cheerfully in many callings in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Most recently, she enjoyed serving as organist, Primary chorister and temple worker. While living in Georgia where seven of the children were born, she enjoyed teaching the young women and helped a few of them with prom or wedding dresses.

Rochelle lived a life of joy and service. Many have said how she always made them feel totally at ease in her presence. She loved freely and forgave quickly. She loved friends and family deeply and radiated so much joy being with them. She was grateful to be surrounded by so many extended family and friends that she loved. She will be so greatly missed but her memory will be cherished until we meet again.

Rochelle was preceded in death by her daughter Jeanna, her brother Rob, and her parents. She is survived by her husband Douglas, and seven children and six grandchildren. Also by her sister Risa, and her brothers Roger (Paula) and Ryan (Pam).

Funeral services will be held Friday, September 22, at 11 AM at the Kensington Ward building at 1885 Summerwood Drive in Farmington UT, where viewings will be held from 6-8 PM Thursday evening and from 9:30-10:30 AM on Friday.
