Rodney Thomas Rodgers

July 29, 1959 — January 10, 2019

Rodney Thomas Rodgers, age 59, passed away Thursday January 10, 2019 in Woods Cross, Utah. He was born July 29, 1959 in Salt Lake City, Utah, the son of Merlyn Royce and Julia Billy Thompson Rodgers.
Rodney was the father of two boys, Ryan and Randahl Rodgers. He was a grandfather to Ryan and his wife Janie’s children, Elizabeth, Scarlett and Pearl Rodgers.
Rodney was a father, grandfather, brother, a friend, and storyteller to all who met him.  He passed away far to young after a long illness.
He worked 33 years as a talented electrician for the University of Utah. He formed many friendships over the years there and had the ability to fix about anything. Mostly he had a passion to pass his skills onto anyone willing to learn. He had a work ethic and drive that he was very modest about, but loved what he did and had a hand shake like a iron grip to prove it.
Rodney loved his boys and daughter in law, and only ever desired for them to be happy and successful. He was so proud to be a papa and truly loved his granddaughters. He made them feel loved and special.
Any chance he could get he would spend it outdoors camping, hiking, fishing in Green River and hunting. He especially enjoyed being with his four dogs, they were his babies and he loved them dearly. He was also an avid golfer, with a swing that was envied by anyone who played with him.
He lived a simple life, never complex and always with good, honest intentions, but fought his own battles every day.
He truly had a big heart and was a wonderful example of unconditional love. He will be deeply missed by all those that knew him, but never forgotten
Survived by his two sons; Ryan (Janie) Rodgers & Randy Rodgers; 3 Grandchildren: Elizabeth, Scarlett & Pearl Rodgers; 2 siblings: Royce Rodgers & Roxcie Varela.
Rodney was preceded in death by his parents.
