Roger Arden Christensen was born on May 20, 1939, in North Salt Lake, the son of Harold and Ina Christensen, and the third of four children. Roger passed away September 10, 2024, at his home in Centerville, Utah, at age 85.
Growing up in North Salt Lake, Roger graduated from Bountiful High School as a member of the first graduating class of 1957.
Roger married Judy Peterson on June 9, 1966, in the Logan Utah Temple. They are the parents of five children: Brent (Autumn), Scott (Vicki), Lisa (deceased), Alan (Jennifer), and Eric (Emily). He is the proud grandfather of 11-Katheryn (James) Jensen, Klara (Garrett) Cowley, Kasandra, Kerri (Andrew) Cole, Emily (Tyler) Trotter, Jason, Ryan, Alexis, Riley, Chase (Chanty) Barrett and Brennon (Kayla) Petersen and has four great-grandchildren.
Roger is also survived by his siblings Gayle Christensen and Carol Siebers. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Lisa, and brother Jack.
The first in his family to finish college, Roger graduated from Utah State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting in 1966. He worked for 39 years for the federal government, including the Department of Agriculture, Bureau of Reclamation and the Department of Energy.
Roger was an avid reader of the newspaper, and he especially enjoyed reading it with his sons. Later in life he found a passion for family history and genealogy.
A thoughtful, kind, and dependable man, Roger had a delightfully dry sense of humor and he smiled easily. He quietly served his family in many ways. He dearly loved them and dedicated his life to living the restored gospel, sharing his deeply rooted testimony by striving to set a faithful example for others.
As a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Roger fulfilled many callings. He completed a mission to Norway as a young man and later served with Judy in the Utah Ogden Mission. He loved being an ordinance worker at the Bountiful Utah Temple for many years until his health no longer permitted him to serve.
