Roger Kurt Hare, a long-time resident of Centerville, Utah, departed this life on August 29, 2023, surrounded by his loving family at the age of 72, after a heroic personal battle with cancer.
Roger was born in Ogden, Utah on June 16, 1951, to Frank and Jolanda Hare, number 4 out of 10 siblings. His family later moved to Layton. Utah where Roger graduated from Davis High School in 1969. Roger was a Davis High cheerleader and was known for his athletic abilities in playing football, basketball, and baseball.
After graduation, Roger served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Southern states, Florida/Alabama mission. Among his many church positions, he was a scout leader, primary teacher, activities chairman, & temple worker.
Roger married Elaine (Green) on January 25th, 1995, and later they were sealed in the Bountiful Temple on March 27th, 1996.
Roger will be remembered for his plethora (an excessive amount) of personality traits including: his sense of humor, knowledge, wisdom, his Chuck Norris physical stature, competitive nature, and most of all his love for his Heavenly Father and scriptures.
Roger believed that an honest day of work was an honest day of pay, some might even call him a ‘workaholic”. This was demonstrated throughout his life by following in his father’s footsteps and working two or more jobs at a time. His working career includes employment at places such as: Safeway, Easton Alumian, Anthony's Pizza, RB's Convenience Store, ATOR Construction, Chevron gas station, this, that and the other, or in other words, XY&Z.
In his spare time, when Roger did have spare time, he enjoyed reading all types of literature, church history, science fiction autobiographies, political agendas, current events. He enjoyed watching movies and learning from anyone and all that he had conversations with.
Roger is survived by his loving wife Elaine and their blended family: Laura Hare, Kurt Hare, Amber (Jake) McFee, Michael Hare, Joseph Hare, Utonya (Wayne) Nielsen, Michael (Tami) Babinsky, Ryan (Heather) Babinsky, Coeur d’ Alene Jones, Weston (Kristen) Jones. Roger's Siblings: Frank (Jackie) Hare Jr., Vivian (Paul) Evans, Robert (Cheryl) Hare, Janice (Mel) Hansen, David Hare, Chrissy (Paul) Sesson, Venus (Roy) Hale, Patti Hare, and grandchildren, nieces, and nephews too numerous to mention individually.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Jolanda Hare, a sister, Jolanda (Lanny) Telford, and grandchildren: Jamieson Nielsen, Carter Babinsky, Miles Babinsky, and Mirabel Jones.
