“Blessed Assurance, Jesus is Mine”
Roger Stump, 70 years old, of Layton, Utah, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 3rd, 2025, surrounded by family, after a bravely fought battle with cancer.
Roger was born on February 18th, 1954, to Whetsel and Bethel Stump. He was born and raised near Cleveland, Ohio, in Lorain County.
Roger led a full life filled with service to his country and a variety of exciting professions including serving in the United States Navy. He also worked in the Sheriff’s department, as a private eye, bodyguard, owned a paralegal office, was a child advocate and worked in cyber security.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Iris Stump and his biological son, Adam Stump, daughter-in-law, Debbie Stump and grandchildren: Alex, Lauren, Natalie and Hailey. His heart was also to include his step-children as his own; Kevin Macintosh and Jason Budd and the children of his wife, Iris: Emily Stoik, her husband, Shawn, their children, Trinity, Xavier and Tessa; Rick Koci, his wife, Heather and their children, Elizabeth, JD, Michael and Isabella; Bonnie Randall, her husband, Jake and their children, Emma, Lucy, Axel and Sophie and Kimberley Ordoñez, her husband, Eric and their children, Emilia and Eloísa. He is also survived by his older brother, Al. Their bond was very special to him.
Additionally, Roger is survived by his life-long friends from elementary school, George and Ellen Richards, who were more than friends to him, they were family.
In his spare time, Roger enjoyed many outdoor activities, including hunting, shooting, scuba diving, fishing and adventuring around the country in the RV with his wife, Iris. He also loved to plant as many tomato plants as he could get away with.
Roger had a true servant’s heart and loved to help anyone in need. He enjoyed teaching and telling stories. He was wise to the point of awe. He was gentle, kind, very tender and so loved. One of the things he could often be heard saying to his beloved wife was, “I live to serve…” and he truly did have the beautiful heart of a servant.
He loved his wife, he loved Jesus, and he loved his entire family, immediate and extended, very much. He will be missed not only by his wife but by his family, friends, co-workers and anyone whose life he touched.
He loved the Lord, and His church, Christian Life Center, in Layton, Utah, where he worked in the sound booth and was greatly respected for the service he so willingly gave.
“Well, done, my good and faithful servant.”
