Ronald Bradshaw

Ronald Brough Bradshaw passed away surrounded by his family on July 23, 2013 at the age of 91.
Ron was born at the home of his Grandparents (Samuel and Phoebe Brough) in Bountiful, Utah, on August 28, 1921 to George Clyde and Laura Brough Bradshaw. He was the fourth of 8 children. Ron grew up in the Sugarhouse area of Salt Lake City, Utah. He graduated from South High School in 1938. As a teenager he spent many summers working in Lyman, Wyoming, where his grandfather originally homesteaded the area as a Mormon pioneer.
After high school he went to work as a carpenter in Alaska, New York, and Washington, DC. When he was eligible, he followed in his older brothers footsteps and enlisted in the United States Navy in 1942. He was stationed in San Diego, California when he met a Navy nurse named Anita Marie Miller. Anita agreed to a first date on February 14, 1944. They fell in love and were married on November 18, 1944. As a veteran of World War II, his proud service continued again later in life when he served as treasurer of the Blinded Veterans of America, Western Mountaineers Regional Group.
Following their service in the war, Ronald and Anita moved to Salt Lake City, Utah to make their home. He loved taking his family on vacations to their cabin in Wyoming, camping at Moon Lake, road trips to Texas, their cabin at Bear Lake, and many other adventures.
Ron, along with his brothers and brother-in-law, owned and operated Intermountain Glass and Paint Company in Salt Lake City, Utah. In 1949, he opened the second shop in Bountiful, Utah. As a prominent Bountiful businessman, he built life-long friendships along the way. In 1967 he and Anita moved their family to Bountiful, Utah and later to Woods Cross, Utah. After his retirement, he and his wife made a second home in Southern Utah where they enjoyed exploring and rock hunting.
Ron was a talented carpenter and could always be heard whistling or humming as he worked. He was a small aircraft pilot, enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, gardening, and cutting and polishing rocks.
Ron is survived by his daughters, Ronda Burton and Rollene Bradshaw; son Bill Bradshaw; son-in-law Paul White; grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Anita; daughter, Nancy Janene White; son-in-law Bruce Burton; and, all of his brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, July 29, 2013 at Russon Brothers Mortuary, 295 North Main, Bountiful where a viewing will be held Sunday evening 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. and Monday morning 11:45 a.m.-12:45 p.m. prior to services. Interment-Bountiful City Cemetery.
