After many years, he was offered the position of Kitchen manager at a Cottonwood treatment center where he worked for about 10 years.

Ron loved , playing guitar, thunder and lightning, and being around people. Ron also enjoyed riding a skateboard until he broke his knee and had to be in a cast for eight weeks.

Ron married Lori Baird and became an instant grandpa to her grandchildren, which he loved more than anything else. He and Lori later divorced.
