Ronald Rix, devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather passed from this life, with his family by his side, on Dec. 21st 2015.
He was born on Sep. 18th 1926 to Fredrick Stephen and Ethel Pick Rix in Doncaster, Yorkshire, England. He was the youngest of his brothers Stan, Tom and a step-sister Muriel.
At the age of 20 he traveled to America with his sweetheart, Jean, and her family. Three years later they were married on April 10th 1950 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Together they raised five children.
Ron always worked very hard to provide for his family. He worked at Flying J refinery for many years. He enjoyed the friendships he made with his pals at work. Ron could fix, build or make anything and used those skills to work extra jobs to earn a little extra for the family. He made sure his family had the necessities plus a little extra for family fun and vacations.
Family came first with Ron. He loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them. He was a natural with his grandchildren. He had a special place in his heart for his “girls” (his grand-daughters) and grand-babies. He loved to have any baby in his arms or on his lap.
Ron loved to travel with his wife and family. He looked forward each year to the annual vacation to Yellowstone and Island Park with the cousins. Later in life he traveled and cruised the world with Jean. Together they visited places most people only dream of. His favorite was going back to visit his family in his homeland of England.
Ron had a deep love and respect for animals. Many lucky animals entered their home and lived long and pampered lives. Not only did he love his own, but all the pets that entered his life through his children and grand-children. He never could understand how people could live without animals.
Ron is survived by his children, Annette (Rodney) Griffin, Stephen (Debbie) Rix, Lorin (Jodi) Rix, Brad (Lynette) Rix, and David (Raquel) Rix, as well as his 14 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren. Surviving also, are 3 sisters-in-law, Mildred Burton, Leona Burton and May Rix. Preceded in death by his wife, Jean, his parents, his brothers, Tom and Stan, and his step-sister Muriel.
The family would like to express deep appreciation to all of his caregivers at Welcome Home and his nurse, Susan Jenkins. Thank you for your service and kindness in his time of need. Special thanks to the Orchard 8th Ward for your service with the funeral and luncheon.
