Ronald Lawson Van Ry, 87, passed away on November 27, 2022, in Bountiful, Utah. He was born on September 4, 1935, in Bountiful, Utah to Otto and Margaret Lawson Van Ry and was the oldest of four children.
He graduated from Davis High School. He attended Weber State College and the University of Utah. He was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings including as a missionary in the Netherlands. He had a lifelong love of the Dutch people, language and culture.
He married his sweetheart, Barbara Simmons, on July 3, 1963 in the Salt Lake Temple. They are the parents of two children, Lori (David) Scott, and Thad (Renae). His family and the Gospel of Jesus Christ meant the most to him.
He had a love of sports and could be found refereeing basketball and softball as well as being the pitcher in many softball games. After retiring from working for 37 years at the US Postal Service he and Barbara served 11 years as missionaries at the Church Conference Center.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Mardee Hanley, and Jolynn Christensen. He is survived by his brother, Otto Van Ry. Also survived by his wife, children, 11 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren. His infectious laugh and smile will be missed by all who knew him.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, December 5, 2022 at the Woods Cross 1st Ward Building, 2064 South 800 West. A viewing will be held Sunday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Russon Mortuary, 295 North Main, Bountiful, and Monday morning 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the church prior to services. Interment - Bountiful City Cemetery
