Rori Winterbottom

Our beloved wife, sister, mother, daughter, aunt, and Grammy.  Rori Winterbottom (51) passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family. She was born on July 21, 1970, to Robert Videto and Monie Flegal in Lynnwood, California. In 1974 their family moved to Brigham City, Utah. She attended Lincoln Elementary, Box Elder Junior High School, and Box Elder High School. In 1985, her family moved to Roy, Utah, where she attended and graduated from Roy High School. After graduating from high school, Rori and her twin sister Kathy decided to spread their wings and move into an apartment together. This is where she met her husband James Winterbottom through her neighbor Fred Hooper.

Rori and James were married November 7, 1992. She always lovingly referred to him as “My Jim”, “Jim”, or “Baby Love”. Together they had 3 children. Rori faced many health challenges throughout her life, with each one she always had a positive outlook that she would overcome each one of them. She learned after having her first daughter Bridget, that she would not be able to have anymore children. After many years of patiently waiting, she was blessed by the kindness of a family friend who generously offered the baby she was carrying, to Jim and Rori to raise as their own son, Jimmie. He was her “Bubba.” Four years later Jim and Rori were touched by the love of adoption again and were able to adopt their son Ryan. He was her “RyRy”. Rori always wanted to have a family and she loved them all so much! She always put her whole heart into her Jim and her kids, sometimes to a fault.  Her ”Bubba” and her “RyRy” have always said she was the best mother in the world! She left a great legacy of family, love, and generosity. She will be greatly missed.

She was blessed with a granddaughter, Brylie on October 10, 2008. She loved her “Gran” so much that she was always worried if she had another grandchild, how she could possibly love them as much as she did her “Gran”. Her and her “Gran” could jam out to 80’s rock for hours when they were home alone. Her “Gran” was her world. Rori’s family blessed her with a dog around Christmas 2020, she loved her “Mamma Mae” her sweet little dog that brought her so much joy and happiness. They were inseparable.

Rori loved making the world a beautiful place with her amazing flower gardens. She loved all flowers, but really loved Dinner Plate Dahlias especially Peonies. She loved Disneyland and Goofy was her favorite. She loved crocheting (with her unique ability to keep her yarn tight with her toes) and always kept herself busy with making a blanket for all her loved ones. She fiercely loved her Denver Broncos! If she ever missed one of their games, it was not by choice. She loved going to the cabin every summer in Idaho, where so many wonderful memories were made. She also loved going fishing on her boat. She loved her almost daily check in phone calls (sometimes those phone calls would last FOREVER.) and evening girls trips to just have fun with her lifelong friend Melinda “Lou Lou.”

Rori was preceded in death by her mother Monie Flegal Videto. She is survived by her husband James Winterbottom,  her father and stepmother Robert and (Trudy) Videto, her mother-in-law Gerry Winterbottom, father-in-law Jack Winterbottom, Her twin sister Kathy Videto and (Steve Franklin). Her children, Bridget and (Sean Giannitrapani), Jimmie “Bubba” Winterbottom, and Ryan “RyRy”, Winterbottom, her “Gran” Brylie Winterbottom, Stepsisters Patti and (Keaton) , Dede and (Jared), and many nieces and nephews.

Thank you to Bonneville dialysis Center in Ogden, Ogden Regional Medical Center, Utah Nephrology, University of Utah Hospital staff, and special thanks to the transplant team, for their kind and compassionate care of our sweet Rori.

Graveside services will be held Monday, June 13, 2022 at 11 am at the Roy City Cemetery, 5200 South 2300 West Roy, Utah.  A viewing for family and friends to visit will be held Monday morning prior to graveside service from 9:30 – 10:30 am at the Russon Mortuary, 1585 W. 300 S. Syracuse, UT.
