ROSARIO (Sal) ANTHONY GIANI
1925 ~ 2016
Our beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather passed away on Wednesday, November 9, 2016 peacefully in his home, surrounded by family, due to cancer. Sal was born in Manhattan, New York to Anthony and Francesca Paola Mendola Giani on February 6, 1925. He married his sweetheart, Nancy H. Schera on June 23, 1946 in New York City. He had a deep faith in the Gospel of Jesus Christ and has been active in the LDS Church since his baptism on Easter Sunday in 1958. Sal was a “church” pioneer for his family. He was beyond excited when he heard that a Temple would be built in Rome, Italy. Sal had hoped to travel there for the dedication. Now he will have the perfect view when it is dedicated. He loved his family, reading, his New York Yankees, FOX News, and his Sicilian heritage. He was always reading a wealth of information on history and the Bible. Sal retired from Eastman Kodak Company in 1985 and moved out West, first to Las Vegas and then to Centerville, Utah to be closer to family. Sal leaves behind his wife of more than 70 years, Nancy; son, Anthony, son, Sal (Susan) and daughter, Francine (Rick) Luczak; 9 grandchildren (Anthony, Camille, Salvatore, Traci, Christopher, Christina, Michelle, Madeline, serving in the Japan, Fukuoka Mission, Meredith, serving in the Japan, Kobe Mission) and 12 great grandchildren. He loved his grandchildren and great grandchildren deeply. Proceeded in death by his parents and only sibling, Antoinette Giacobbe. The family wishes to thank the entire staff at Legacy House Bountiful who were so awesome with Sal, specifically, Jessica, Resident Nurse Coordinator, every Medtech, and CNA who worked with him. We also want to thank Dr. Holland and nurse, Julie of ComfortWorx Hospice who made him comfortable until the end. Thanks to countless others who served Sal and his entire family through this difficult time.
