Roy Sisto Alires Age 75 passed peacefully in his home surrounded by loved ones on June 11th 2023. Joining his eighteen brothers, three sisters along with his mother, father, his eldest son, grandson, as well as his many relatives.
Roy Sisto Alires was born April 13th 1948 to his father Pablo Alires and Mary Maestes in Stockton Utah. The youngest of twenty one kids Roy loved and cared for all his surviving siblings as they did for him. Growing up in Stockton Roy would often tell stories of his hard working father and mother living, contributing and tending to their land and farm. Being the youngest he looked up to his siblings and parents, learning important life lessons and speaking very highly of them. In having a big and tight knit family Roy loved and shared a very strong bond with each and every one of them.
Roy, also known to many as "Gordy", a nickname given to him by his siblings, graduated high school from Horseman High school. Not soon after that Roy joined the United States Army in 1967 serving two tours in Vietnam in 1967 and 1968. After receiving an honorable discharge as well as a Purple Heart. Roy served our country with pride and honor and was very proud of his service. After returning home he started his life again working various jobs and growing his family. Eventually he began to serve and help veterans by working at the United States Department of Veterans Affairs hospital for fifteen years on the custodial staff. In 1993 Roy retired from the V.A hospital and continued to take care of his family and loved ones. During his life Roy was known for having a huge heart not only caring and helping his family and friends but having a strong loving presence positively impacting every person he came in contact with. Sharing wisdom and having a willingness to listen to and help any person in need. He was known for being compassionate, and loving, always inspiring everyone he met to stay positive and that even when we struggle that we are never truly lost, that we can always better ourselves spiritually and in our daily lives.
Roy Sisto Alires will be truly missed and loved by all he had come in contact with. He is survived by his loving wife of 38 years Arlene Wortman Alires by which they loved each other unconditionally through thick and ups and downs. His daughter Michelle Olson (Thomas Bankhead) , daughter Valerie Haraki and son Amilio Alires (Jennifer Williams). His grandchildren Heath Haraki, Hemi Haraki, Taye Haraki, Valyncia Sherman, Aiyanna Sherman, Yohann Sherman, Heather Olson, Christopher Olson, and great granddaughter Cedar-Renae Green.
