Ruby DeBry

Ruby Robison DeBry passed away July 15, 2017 in Kaysville, Utah at 100 years of age.  She was born September 24, 1916 in Fillmore, Millard County, Utah, the daughter of Parker Pratt Robison and Florence Johnson.

In 1938 she married James John DeBry in the Salt Lake Temple.  They had five children:  James J. DeBry Jr. (Da), Paul Robison DeBry (Rita), Patricia DeBry Pexton (deceased) (Robert M.), Mary DeBry King (Felshaw), Mark Robison DeBry (Marla), 24 grandchildren and many great grandchildren.  Also surviving:  brother, Parker Pratt Robison.

Ruby was a happy child and loved music.  She played the piano and violin and sang all her life.  She performed in various orchestras and tap danced for many years, retiring from dancing when she was 85.  She sang the lead in the operetta, The Desert Song, at East High School as a sophomore. She played the organ at the Bountiful Temple for the first 12 years of its existence and was pianist for the Relief Society and also for the Rocky Mountain Care Center.  Her favorite hymn was “O My Father.”  She was an active member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers and was a direct descendant of Parley P. Pratt.

She and her husband James filled two foreign missions – one in the Netherlands in 1960 and the other in Western Europe (1980), living in Germany.  James filled a mission in his youth to the Netherlands (1933), and later served as a stake missionary.  They both served missions on Temple Square.  They loved the gospel. 

Graveside services will be held at the Bountiful Cemetery at 2224 South 200 West from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 18, 2017.
