Sandy, Utah.  Rudolf (Rudy) Heinz Strebel, 84, passed away June 27, 2015 from causes incident to age.  Rudy was born on May 24, 1931 in Munich, Germany, the second child of Maximilian and Dorothea Strebel.  A fourth generation member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day-Saints in Germany, he was active in the Munich Branch holding many positions including branch organist at age 10.  He met his future wife, Yvonne Neufeldt, when she fled to Munich from East Germany at the close of World War II.  He immigrated to the United States in August of 1953 and was drafted into the U.S. Army.  Later he became a U.S. citizen and deeply loved America.  Rudy and Yvonne were married in Washington D.C. on December 22, 1954, and sealed in the Salt Lake Temple in May 1955.  They were members of the Salt Lake Sixth-Seventh Ward, the Harvard South Ward, and the Bountiful 13th Ward. Rudy had a great love for the scriptures, the gospel of Jesus Christ and enjoyed playing the organ and making arrangements of his favorite hymns. Rudy’s lifelong desire to serve as a missionary culminated in serving missions with his wife, Yvonne, in Bayreuth, Germany (1993-94), the Frankfurt  Temple (1997-98) and the Swiss Temple (2001—2002).  Rudy worked as a retouch artist and technical illustrator for Unisys (Sperry Univac) for over 30 years. 

                Preceded in death by his wife Yvonne, sister Gertraud Ochsenhirt and daughter Judy (Kevin) Hague. Survived by daughters Barbara (Richard) Goff, Patricia (David) Mercer, and son Mark (Karen) Strebel; 23 grandchildren; and 24 great grandchildren.  Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 2, 2015 at 11:00 am at the Russon Brothers Mortuary, 295 N. Main, Bountiful, UT. A viewing begins at 9:30 am.  Interment at the Memorial Estates Lakeview Cemetery, Bountiful, UT. The family expresses their gratitude to the Wentworth at Willow Creek Assisted Living and Brighton Hospice for their loving care, dignity and respect. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the LDS Church’s General Missionary Fund.
