Rulon Gary Lowe

October 27, 1941 ~ May 17, 2017

Early on a snowy May morning, Rulon Gary Lowe, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, passed quickly through the veil to a world without mortal disease and pain.  For almost 53 years, he fought a valiant battle against diabetes and its complications.  He survived much longer than he and many others ever expected.

Gary was born to Rulon Kingsford and Nelda Blair Lowe, their last child and only boy.  Growing up in Lewiston, Utah, he attended Cache Valley schools and earned both Bachelors and Masters Degrees from Utah State University.  He married Tamara Olsen June 9, 1961 in the Logan LDS Temple.  They had three children; later divorced.  On March 13, 2004, he married his sweetheart, Adelle Kay Barnett.  They shared thirteen precious years before his passing.

Gary was a master teacher who enjoyed sharing his love of math and science, especially geology, with his students.  He taught in Weber and Davis County junior high and high schools for 32 years.  A man of many talents, he enjoyed the grandeurs of nature, an eye for landscaping, the excitement of travel, the beauty of music, especially the piano, and a passion for antique firearms.  Gary was tender-hearted, fun-loving, generous and intelligent.  He loved people.

A life-long member of the LDS church, he served in many callings.  Some of his favorites were ward financial clerk, stake missionary, and leadership in the High Priest’s quorum.  Gary had a deep love for his Heavenly Father and his Savior Jesus Christ and had a strong desire to be of service to all.  He knew that he had experienced many miracles of healing and testified often of the blessings he had received from God.

Gary is survived by his wife Adelle, his children, Jana Lowe McKell (John), James Rulon Lowe, and Lara Lowe Blum (Dan), 8 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters, Bonna Ralphs and Paulene Anderson, and one granddaughter, Alexa Lowe.

We wish to thank the many doctors, paramedics and care givers who supported Gary over the years, especially the University of Utah Kidney Transplant Team and most recently the staff at Orchard Cove Care Center.  The kind and thoughtful visits of ward members, family, and faithful home teachers provided much comfort and strength through many difficult times and were much appreciated.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday May 24, 2017 at 10:30 am at the Park Meadows LDS Ward, 950 N. Main St., Centerville, Utah, with viewings from 6 to 8 pm Tuesday May 23 at Russon Brothers Mortuary, 295 N.  Main, Bountiful, Utah, and Wednesday from 9 am to 10:15 am at the church prior to the service.  Interment will be held at the Farmington City Cemetery.
