Rulon Morris Cushing age 79, passed away Wednesday, October 27, 2021 at Lakeview Hospital. He was born March 1,1942 to Ruth and Morry Cushing. He was the second of four sons. Rulon attended Stoker Elementary, South Davis Junior High (now Bountiful Junior High), and graduated from Bountiful High School in 1960. He graduated from Weber State University in 1967 with a degree in Social Work.
He served his country as a member of the Utah National Guard. He married Karen Christensen. They lived in Bountiful and Levittown, New York. They later divorced.
Rulon was employed as a social worker for Nassau County Department of Social Services from 1968 to 1979. He returned to Utah and was employed as Parks Superintendent for Bountiful City. He took great pride in keeping Bountiful parks beautiful.
Rulon was a member of the first adult soccer team in Bountiful. He was an avid bowler and golfer until he developed back trouble. He was not one to sugar coat his thoughts. If you asked a question you better be prepared for his answer.
He had a big heart and a quiet love for his family and friends. His focus was his family and searching for ancestors. Rulon developed an avid love and obsession for genealogy. Many hours were spent locating and photographing headstones throughout the state.
He is survived by his sons Jon and Cory, his daughters Wendy (Kurt) Bayles, Becky (Brian) Blood, eleven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Rulon is also survived by his brothers John (Anita), Roger (Joyce), and Bob (Sue).
Memorial services will be held Saturday, November 20th in the Bountiful Tabernacle cultural hall, 55 South Main Street from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Dress is casual.
