Ruth Bowen

July 22, 1925 — January 28, 2015

After living a life of selfless service Ruth Anderson Bowen passed away peacefully on January 28, 2015 surrounded by her family.  She was born on July 22, l925 in Ogden, Utah to Lawrence and Grace Anderson.   On April 2nd l942, Ruth married her sweetheart Robert Grant Bowen and they were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on Oct. 6th, 1965.   Ruth knew the value of hard work and applied it in everything that she did.  Many people will remember her helpful nature while managing the Wight House clothing store in Bountiful for 27 years.  She was a meticulous housekeeper and an excellent cook.  Her family will remember her as a peacemaker and devoting her life to quietly serving others. One of her favorite hobbies was shopping with her sister, Twila.  She would always come home with not one, but two pairs of shoes after one of their outings, and it became a family joke.   Ruth had a great love for her family and always made sure their needs were taken care of before her own.  The Bowen house will always be remembered as a gathering place that everyone wanted to visit because of the hospitality and love that people felt in their home.   Her life in the end was not easy; she fought blindness and deteriorated health after a stroke and heart attack, but she held on with determination and tenacity. Ruth will always be remembered as a person that exemplified the pure love of Christ in all she did.
She is survived by her children, twin daughters, Karen Alvey (Ron), Sharon Blackburn, sons, Robert Jr. (Dixie) and Charles Scott.  She was blessed with 13 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, one sister and two grandchildren.  The family wishes to express appreciation to Sunrise Hospice Service and Tender Care Hospice Service for the care that they rendered to Ruth and our family.  Funeral Services will be held at 11 a. m., Saturday, February 7th, 2015 at the Bountiful 39th Ward, 1500 South 600 East, Bountiful.  A viewing will be held Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary, 295 North Main and Saturday 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the church prior to the services.
