Ruth Day Beatie Jenkins passed away at her home in Bountiful, Utah, on March 1, 2022. Born on July 27, 1924 to Ruby Lynn Day and Monroe Beatie. She married Wayne Arthur Walton (1922-1945) who was killed in action when his plane was shot down in the South Pacific during WW II. After his early demise, Susan Walton Mabey, was born. On Sept 28, 1946, Ruth married David Paul Jenkins, Sr., and the family grew by three more boys: David Paul Jenkins Jr., Randall Thomas Jenkins and Corey Wade Jenkins
David and Ruth traveled the country, New Zealand and Australia collecting petrified wood and David made her countless fine jewelry from their gem and mineral finds.
David and Ruth built their home in Bountiful in the 1950’s, and a family cabin at Christmas Meadows in the Uinta Mountains. There were countless days of fishing, hunting, rock hounding, and camping in their Airstream trailer. Ruth sure knew how to work hard, but she cleaned up nicely too. That sweet sounding voice of hers was full of class and elegance. She had a beautiful singing voice, played the violin, quilted works of art, crafted porcelain dolls and clothes, and collected beautiful sea shells, crystal and china. Her green thumb was evident in their big, beautiful yard and flower gardens. In all of her talents, her greatest source of joy was her family. She was tickled to snuggle babies and watch them grow.
If you were privileged to know Ruth, she has touched your life in some meaningful way. Please feel invited to share those stories and memories with the family.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, David Paul Jenkins, Sr., her oldest son, David Paul Jenkins, Jr. (Jane), and her youngest son, Corey Wade Jenkins (Shirley) and her son-in-law James Mabey and her two siblings James Beatie and Marion Beatie Whitehead.
She is survived by her sister Joan Hansen, brother Patrick Beatie (Judith), daughter, Susan Mabey; son, Randy Jenkins (Jill), 10 Grandkids, 16 great-grandkids, and 2 great-great-grandkids.
