Ruth Deakin Hanger

Ruth passed away peacefully on September 17, 2011. She was born October 23, 1924 and raised in Salt Lake City. Married Ralph Deakin on October 24, 1942, the day after her 18th birthday. They moved to Helper, Utah (1953-1965) where they raised their three children. Ruth was active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, usually in Primary or involved with music. She had fun as a Den Leader in Cub Scouts for many years. Ralph and Ruth moved to Bountiful, Utah in 1965. Ruth worked for KeeLox Office Supply and for the Utah State Dept. of Health. She served as a Hostess at the LDS Church Office Building and as a volunteer at Lakeview Hospital. She was a generous person and gave of her time, income and talents to family, neighbors and friends. Ralph and Ruth enjoyed traveling with the Good Sam group and made the most of their retirement. Seven years after Ralph passed away, Ruth was surprised to find another wonderful man to share her life with. She married Sidney Hanger on Valentines Day, 2005. Preceded in death by her parents, Wilford and Leila Ashton; sisters, Leila Royce and Dorothy Payne; son, Roger Lynn; infant sons, Ralph Charles and Raymond. Survived by her husband, Sidney Hanger; son, Ryan (Susan); and daughter, Rosell Kris (Don) Orton; 9 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 21, 2011 at the Orchard 2nd Ward, 3707 South 800 West, Bountiful, where a viewing will be held from 9:45-10:45 a.m. prior to services. Interment-Salt Lake City Cemetery.
