“Bambi”

Ruth Blanch Cook DeBoer passed away peacefully at her home in Bountiful on November 13, 2013. Ruth was born January 17, 1929 to William Henry and Elizabeth Elton Cook in Lehi, Utah, the sixth of seven children. After graduating from Lehi High School, Ruth went to work for United Airlines. She retired from United 35 years later as secretary to the Executive Chef. While working for the airline, she met and married Klaas DeBoer (later divorced) with whom she had three children.

Ruth was a faithful member of the LDS church and a model of kindness and decency. To know Ruth was to know gentleness and compassion. Her strength, spirit and sweet nature have been a blessing to everyone around her and her life was truly an example of goodness and beauty. Ruth loved her family beyond measure. Her home, like Ruth, was the heart of countless gatherings, celebrations and holiday traditions. She will be remembered for her gracious and loving ways, her quick wit, her love of Christmas and the elegance with which she always carried herself.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers (John and Art); one sister (Nettie), one half-brother (Ernest) and two half-sisters (LaVerne and Thelma). Ruth is survived by her children Klaudia (Brian) Goodfellow of Bountiful, Klaas (Jane) DeBoer of Murray, and Bill (Maren) DeBoer of West Bountiful. She is also survived by two sisters, Leona Bird and Vivian DuBois; one brother, Clyde Cook; six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and friends. To know her was to love her. We miss you, Bambi.

Funeral Services and Viewings will be held at Russon Brothers Mortuary, 295 N. Main Bountiful, Ut. Viewing times will be Monday, November 18, 6pm-8pm and Tuesday, November 19, 9:45 to 10:45 am. Funeral Services will begin at 11:00am.
