Ruth Luise Anna Drawe Kunsch was born December 23, 1933, in Herne, Westfalen, Germany, to Wilhelm Gottlieb and Anna Marie Mueller Drawe. As a child, she endured disruptions and loss during World War II. In 1953 she emigrated to Canada, where she met her husband, Jost A. Kunsch (Joe). Together they found joy in raising their only child, Rosemarie. Following Joe’s death in 1967, Ruth and Rosemarie moved to Bountiful, Utah. Tragically, Rosemarie died when just a young mother.
A strong, independent woman, Ruth was employed for many years at the C. V. Federal Credit Union. She also served an LDS mission in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. For the last few years, she made her home among loving neighbors and friends in Centerville, Utah. She was an active member of the Seventh Ward. Her final months were spent at Barton Creek Assisted Living in Bountiful.
Ruth was preceded in death by her husband Joe, daughter Rosemarie Rice, brothers Egon and Heinz (Pat), and sister Lydia. She is survived by her brothers Walter (Trude) Drawe, Germany; Harold (Lucie) Drawe, West Bountiful; and Willi (Deonne, deceased) Drawe. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Pat Drawe, son-in-law John (Gretchen) Rice, grandchildren Aniesa (Ryan) Ballinger, Jacob (Kristi) Rice, Gunnar Rice, great-grandsons Gus and Bronson Ballinger, and many caring nieces and nephews.
Ruth was very grateful to the friends, family members, medical practitioners, and aides who went the second mile in helping her with the challenges of the past two years.
Funeral services were held on Monday, January 5, 2015, at Russon Brothers Mortuary, and interment was at Lakeview Memorial Estates, both in Bountiful.
