Born on a snowy day in January of 1926 as a daughter of Aaron Elmer Cowan and Annie Marie Curtis Cowan. She grew up on the west side of Salt Lake City and graduated from West High School. At 17 her father passed away and left all financial responsibility with her, working at Deseret News as a secretary where she came to know President Tom Monson and other church authorities. She met her eternal companion Kenneth E. LeFevre at a church dance and they were married in the Salt Lake Temple in June of 1951. Together they would have five children. Kenneth Jr. (Cindy), Arthur (Lurlene), Kim (Kate), Beckie Lindsay (Robert), Kathleen Bullock (Zachary). Twenty-two grandchildren (which she loved more than her children). Nineteen great-grandchildren (which she loved even more than her grandchildren). She was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. At age 12 she learned how to lead music and served as a mutual secretary at age 15. At 19 she learned how to play piano and played for the rest of her life and passed on that love to many of her grandchildren. She taught Sunday School, Primary and Cub Scouts. One of her primary classes included 30 children! She worked in the library and for many years she and Ken were in charge of stake baptisms and loved it. She was a faithful visiting teacher. When her eye sight started to leave she memorized as many hymns as possible and would sing them if she couldnt sleep and to lead in Relief Society.
She was a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. Her herd of deer will miss her and the apples she fed them. She loved her flower garden. Special thanks to the North Canyon 2nd Ward which was her home for 47 years with many dear friends. They have wrapped their arms around her. Thanks to Summit Home Health and Hospice, especially her nurse Brenda. Preceded in death by her husband Ken, her brother and sister, three sisters-in-law, and two brothers-in-law. Survived by her sister-in-law Gaya (Jack).
