It would be hard to find a more cheerful, resilient or optimistic spirit than Ruth Lorine Hansen Bateman who passed away on Dec. 24, 2017 peacefully in her sleep. A beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, sister, and friend. Ruth was loved by all who knew her through her 85 years in mortality. She is preceded in death by her husband Keith Bateman, grandson Sumter Bateman, sister Neva Tippets along with brothers Howard and Doug Hansen.
Ruth was fiercely loyal to all her family including her six daughters Debra Bateman (Ritchie Stubbs), Malinda Loy (Tracey), Cynthia Gifford (William), Jeannie Mathis (Jason), Rebecca Bateman Every, Nancy Prince (Jason) and three sons Howard Bateman, Todd Bateman (Selena) and William Bateman (Esther). Widowed at an early age, Ruth raised nine children though determination, hope and a sense of dignity and purpose. She was tough and sweet, dignified and generous.
Born in Los Angles in 1932 to Edger John Hansen and Mary Anne Nicholas, she married Keith Judd Bateman who proposed to her while serving an LDS Mission. They were married in the Salt Lake Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1955.
Through the travails of life, Ruth always found ways to focus on the positive. She thrived on her relationships with her expansive family and her close friends at the Rose Cove Apartments in Farmington.
Those who knew and loved Ruth will always have a special place in their hearts for her enthusiasm and genuine love for her family, friends, community, country and church.
