Ruth Yancey

Ruth Orme Yancey 1932 – 2010 Ruth Orme Yancey, 78, returned to her Heavenly Father on December 10, 2010. She died peacefully of natural causes. Ruth was born on February 10, 1932 in Squirrel, Idaho to John A. and Florence West Orme. She was raised in Idaho Falls, Idaho and developed a great love of music in her youth. She married Harold C. Yancey on March 23, 1951 in the Idaho Falls Temple. They moved to Glendale, California shortly thereafter and later lived in Idaho and Montana before moving to Utah in 1959. Ruth taught piano and organ lessons for over 25 years and cultivated a love of music in her students and her family. She loved to garden and especially loved growing roses. She loved to travel and was able to visit many parts of the world. She was an excellent seamstress and homemaker. She always loved to learn and graduated from the University of Utah with a Bachelors Degree in 1975. Ruth was active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many different callings. The highlight of her service was with Harold in the Bountiful Utah Temple. She was the first matron of that temple, serving from 1995-1998. Ruth was devoted to her family and is survived by her husband of nearly 60 years; and four of her five children: John (Margaret) Yancey, Steven Yancey, Laura (Duane) Toney, and Robert (Anne Beale) Yancey. She is proud of her 12 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son Roger Yancey. Services will be held at 12:00 noon, Tuesday, December 14, 2010 at the Centerville UT North Stake Center, 1461 North Main St., Centerville, Ut. A viewing will be held Monday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary, 295 North Main and Tuesday from 10:30 -11:30 a.m. at the Stake Center prior to services.
