Sandra JoAn Berger

August 16, 1939 — February 8, 2025

Fruit Heights

Sandra Berger, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family. She was 85.

Born August 16, 1939, in Mt. Vernon, Washington, to Darrell Roy Servoss and Dorothy Olsen Servoss, Sandy was raised in Bountiful, Utah, and graduated with the first class of Bountiful High in 1957.

She married William Fredrick Berger on September 2, 1960, in the Salt Lake Temple, sealed by Joseph Fielding Smith. They met at Utah State, where she was pinned with his Delta Phi pin. After marrying, they moved to Chicago for Bill's dental school at Northwestern, later settling in Mission Viejo, California, where they raised eight children.

Sandy was a fun, energetic mom who filled her home with love, sports, activities and music. She never spoke ill of anyone, remained cheerful, and had room in her heart for all. Their home was a hub of joy, always welcoming extra family and friends.

A devoted LDS Church member, Sandy served in many roles, including PTA presidencies, Daughters of Utah Pioneers, and as President of the California Dental Wives Association. She even traveled to schools as "Belt Woman," a superhero promoting dental hygiene. At 60, she returned to Cal State Fullerton to complete her bachelor's degree. Throughout Bill's church leadership, she supported him every step of the way.

Upon retirement in 2006, they moved to Fruit Heights, Utah. At 75, she was honored as "Fruit Heights Mother of the Year." She loved sewing elaborate quilts for her family, winning a ribbon at the OC Fair for one. Her greatest joy was spending time with family-especially her grandbabies.

Sandy is survived by her children: Bob (Wendi) Berger, Sherry Coody, Gary (Marcel Walker) Berger, Roger (Melissa) Berger, Cristy (AJ) Perkins, Jon Berger, Jennifer (Al) Pimentel, and Tiffany (Trent) Campbell; 28 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sister Darelyn (David) Peterson; and brother Kent (Kae) Servoss. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister Shaunali Vanderzanden.
