Sandra Kaye Dobbs Kennard

March 18, 1944 — July 31, 2024

Bountiful, UT

Sandra (“Sweet Sandi”) Kennard, 80, passed away on July 31, 2024, in Bountiful, Utah from the effects of Alzheimer’s.

Sandi was born March 18, 1944, in Cornish, UT to Clarence and Alene Dobbs. Her family moved to Granger, UT when she was in 3rd grade and she met the love of her life and future husband, Aaron Kennard, at the age of 12. They both graduated from Granger High School, married on March 30, 1962, and had two daughters, Debbie Knutsen (Robert) of Bountiful, UT and Kristan Hatch (Scott) of Chandler, AZ.

Sandi worked for many years at Trane Company in Kearns and then for the Salt Lake City Airport Authority, where she retired in 2007. In addition to working full-time and raising her daughters, she also earned “honorary bachelor’s and master’s degrees” helping Aaron with his coursework late at night.

Sandi was most proud of her family and loved spending time creating wonderful memories with them. Whether it was frequent water-skiing trips to Lake Powell, family vacations to various states and countries, accompanying Aaron on exciting business trips (Australia for the Olympics and Greece for the National Sheriff’s Association), or traveling to watch her three grandchildren in their many endeavors, she cherished it all. She also loved to garden, spend time shopping and crafting with her sisters, Janet and Kim, reading novels and watching the Hallmark channel.

She was an amazing wife, mother, grandma, sister and aunt. She lovingly supported each of us from behind the scenes, preferring that we enjoy the spotlight. She loved unconditionally and selflessly. Even when Alzheimer’s robbed her of her memories and ability to care for herself and others, she remained especially sweet to everyone, always thanking family, care takers and medical providers for their assistance.

She is survived by her husband, daughters, sons-in-law, grandkids: Kyle, Jamie & Kaylen, and her sister, Kim Hammons (Clayton).

She is preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Janet Orr.
