Sanona Hart Day France Beckstrand

August 24, 1921 — March 2, 2021

I was born August 24, 1921 in Bountiful, Utah.  My parents are George Cartwright Hart and Amy Bell Porter. I was the eighth of eleven children, 2 boys died when they were babies.  My mother told me the circus came through town the morning I was born and they dropped me off, and rightfully so because I fit in with the family quite well.

The only thing I remember when I was very young was my mother brought me a pair of black patent leather slippers and I would walk back and forth in front of the window, and they would sparkle and glisten.  I also remember that when any of us got a tummy ache that mother would mix some Watkins Linament with some milk and sugar and warm it up and it really seemed to work.  I acquired a taste for that mixture and would fake a tummy ache just to get it.  Of course mother soon caught on to that and no more Watkins Linament Tea.

I attended Bountiful Jr. High and Davis High where I graduated in 1938.  I enjoyed singing with the chorus in the school operettas, and the school dances were a lot of fun.

When World War II broke out I went to work at the Utah Ordinances Plant where we made 50 caliber machine gun bullets.  It was there I met a handsome fellow, Alma Heber Day.  We were married March 10, 1943 in the Salt Lake Temple.  In April 1944 a baby girl was born to us.  We named her Alma Kayleen after her father.  On April 25, 1945 Alma was killed in action in Okinawa.

In 1947 I met a fellow that I had gone to school with.  His name was Charles R France.  On November 20, 1947 we were married in Salt Lake.  In December, 1952 we were blessed with a beautiful baby girl.  We named her Marlynn after grandfather Marlin France.

On November 20, 1955, on our anniversary, we were blessed with another beautiful girl.  We named her Renee.  Then in March 1959, we were blessed with our one and only baby boy.  We named him Charles Raymon after his father.  My loving husband, Charles France passed away January 30, 1983.

I am an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where I held many callings.

I was offered a job at Husky Oil where I worked in many different positions.  I retired in 1984.  My sister Reva and I took a trip to Egypt, Israel and Italy.  It was a wonderful time.

I met Orrin Beckstrand at the singles ward.  We were married December 22, 1989.  Orrin passed in January 2007.

I have been blessed with 8 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-great-grandchild.

I am preceded in death by my parents, 10 siblings, 5 brother and 5 sisters, and my daughter Marlynn.  To my family, I would like to say that I love them very much.  We love you Mom and will miss you dearly.

Graveside services will be held Thursday, March 11, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Centerville City Cemetery.  A viewing will be held prior to the services from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at Russon Mortuary and Crematory, 1941 N. Main St., Farmington, Utah.
