Loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and aunt, passed away Friday March 13, 2015. Sarah was strong and proud, and beneath her layers of duty was a tender woman who loved her family and set an example of faith, service, and sacrifice.
She was born October 8,1918 in Kaysville, Utah to Martin and Sarah Edna Porter Christensen and was the second of seven children. She married James Cooper Burns on April 9, 1941 in the LDS Salt Lake Temple and was blessed with four children. Sarah served as a full-time missionary with her eternal companion, Jim, in the Michigan Lansing Mission, and as a temple worker in the Salt Lake Temple for over 29 years, in addition to several other callings in the LDS Church.
She is survived by her sister Vivian Perkins and her brother Robert H. Christensen, her children James C. Burns (Connie), Ralph C. Burns (Diane), Sarah Jean Hobbs (Clint) and Susan Mounteer (Arlen) as well as 17 grandchildren, 57 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
Sarah was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her sister Mary Ellen Christensen, her brothers Edwin M, Calvin P, and Vern N Christensen, her great-granddaughter Cacia Hobbs, and many other family and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 21, 2015 at the Bountiful 7th Ward, 1250 South Main, Bountiful. A viewing will be held Friday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary, 295 North Main, and Saturday morning 9:45-10:45 a.m. at the church prior to services.
