Saundra Rae Jamieson Hinerman, known to most everyone as Sonie, passed away peacefully on December 20, 2020 in Bountiful, Utah. Sonie was born on March 3, 1938 in Murray, Utah, the daughter of Harold Kenneth and Alta Sampson Jamieson. Sonie graduated from Granite High School. She married Orville E. Hinerman on October 21, 1966 in Salt Lake City and their marriage was later solemnized in the Ogden Utah Temple. They made their home in Bountiful, where they lived for 52 happy years.
Sonie was a dedicated member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in many callings as a longtime member of the Bountiful 13th Ward, including the presidency of the Relief Society, Primary and Young Women. She was the ward missionary correspondent for many years and loved and cared for every one of her missionaries. When the Bountiful Utah Temple opened, Sonie was called to serve in the clothing department and remained in that calling for 20 years.
Sonie worked as the lunchroom lady at Tolman Elementary where she would always sing to the kids on their birthday. Later she worked at Molly’s in Crossroads Mall in Salt Lake City where she made new friends and was introduced to the world of hockey. She and Orville became season ticket holders to the Salt Lake Golden Eagles and later the Utah Grizzlies.
No matter where Sonie went, she was so outgoing and friendly that she quickly turned strangers into friends and friends into her adopted family. She is lovingly called “mom” by more than her two sons. She will be greatly missed.
Sonie is survived by her husband, Orville E. Hinerman, sons Scott (Teresa) Hinerman, Centerville, and Todd Hinerman, Spring Creek, Nevada, grandchildren Danton, Abby, Breydan, Sydney (2 children), and JT, brother Ken (Rebecca) Jamieson and nieces, nephews and cousins. Special thanks to the staff at Heritage Place, Dr. Sam Wilson and Utah Home Health & Hospice for the compassionate care they provided to Sonie in the final months of her life.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, December 28th at 1:30 pm at Lakeview Memorial Cemetery in Bountiful. Services will be live streamed on Facebook @ https://www.facebook.com/russonmortuary.
