1948 “Schatzy” 2022

Shauna Lee Johnston DeWaal

April 3, 1948 — September 1, 2022

Shauna Lee Johnston DeWaal returned to the loving arms of her father in heaven on September 1, 2022. Surrounded by her loving family.

Shauna was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on April 3, 1948, to Gordon and Marie Johnston.

She married and was sealed for time and all eternity to her sweetheart (Johnny) John Harold DeWaal on July 15, 1966, in the Salt Lake Temple.

Shauna was an incomparable wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend to all.

As a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Shauna served in many callings and prayed to her father in heaven multiple times daily to bless and protect her friends, family and those in need. Shauna’s family was THE most important thing to her. She ALWAYS wanted her family to be together. It brought her insurmountable joy.

Shauna is survived by her husband Johnny, brother Harry Gordon, Sister Joan, six of her children, twenty grandchildren and her anxiously awaited “first great-grand-baby.”

Shauna is preceded in death by her loving parents, handsome son Gregg, sister-in-law Bobby and brother-in-law Duane.

We as her family would like to thank her physical therapists who worked tirelessly to get her back on her feet. We would also like to thank her exceptional nurse and angel on earth Lisa Whitaker who provided Mama with such tender loving care and brought her wish to have her entire family by her side to fruition.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 9, 2022, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints chapel, 311 North 800 West, West Bountiful, Utah where a viewing will be held Thursday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and Friday morning from 9:30-10:45 a.m. prior to services.
