Scott David Bishop, our much-loved Son, Father, Grandfather, and Friend passed away on January 2, 2019 from an unfortunate accident at a much too young age at his home in Layton, Utah.
Scott was born April 21, 1960 to Clarence and Ila Bishop in Provo, Utah. He grew up in Bountiful, Utah and graduated from Viewmont High. Prior to graduation he spent a few years in South Dakota where his Father was called to serve as Mission President. Scott married Heidi Dyson in 1980 and they had their son, Brandon in 1981. They were later divorced, but remained friends. Scott married Sherry Webb in 1986. They had Rachel and Elizabeth, and were married for 28 years before ending their union in 2015.
In 1988, Scott moved to Southern California and lived in Loma Linda and Redlands until 2006. He taught, coached, and peer counseled at Rialto High School over 14 years, and impacted hundreds of teen’s lives. He loved his students and called them his "kids". He stayed in touch with many of them and continued to support them towards success as they finished their schooling.
Scott received his Bachelor’s Degree in Social Science from California State University in 1999, and a Master’s Degree in Education from Grand Canyon University in 2002.
In 2006 Scott returned to Utah and continued his teaching career, positively impacting students at South Davis Junior High School and the Renaissance Academy.
Scott loved Classic Rock and Sports, especially Basketball and watching Football with family and friends. He hosted game parties at his home and enjoyed the energy of a live event in the stadium as often as he could. Although his love of sports was great, his favorite and most recent pastime was hanging with his kids and being Papa Scott to his three grandchildren: Kingston, Kai, and Sadie who love him dearly.
Scott is survived by his Mother Ila, his Son Brandon (Kyla), Daughters Rachel and Elizabeth, Brothers Brad (Celia), Mark (Marianne), and Sister-in-law Cristin (Bruce). He was greeted in Heaven by his Father Clare and Brother Bruce who passed in 2017.
Scott will be missed by his Family, Friends and Students. The Family would like to thank all of you for the outpouring of love and special stories you have shared with us during this difficult time.
