Seymour Rigby

September 22, 1929 — January 22, 2015

Biography

Seymour slipped away at his home in Centerville after fighting and enduring Parkinson’s Disease for several years. He was 85 years old. He was comfortable, alert and expressing his love to his family and friends.
Our dad was born and raised on the Rigby family farm in Centerville, Utah. He had many life long memories with his father, six sisters and one brother. His mother passed away when he was two years old. He married the love of his life, Patricia West, on September 25, 1953.
Dad is a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He served in the bishopric, as a home teacher and his most recent, cherished calling, a greeter, which he was never released from. Mom and dad traveled quite a bit together in their latter years. Dad would never have left Davis County if mom didn’t have a love to travel with friends.
Dad had a strong work ethic. He retired from the produce business but never really retired from working. He was an entrepreneur. He created his own produce box recycle business as a young man. So you could say that dad was “green” before being green was cool.
Dad was one of Santa’s most loyal helpers. He brought the Spirit of Christmas and many happy memories to countless families throughout Northern Utah. Dad also enjoyed a good rodeo. We have fond memories of going to the Pioneer Days Rodeo in Ogden. He was a rodeo clown with his brother, Uncle Bill, prior to being married.
Preceded in death by his wife Patricia West Rigby, his mother, father, eight sisters and one brother. He is survived by his sister Jeanne Mooney Jones; son Dee (Kristy) Rigby, daughter Debra Rigby, son Dru (Kathy) Rigby, son Dirk Rigby and son Darren Rigby. Eleven grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Tuesday, January 27, 2015, at the Centerville Stake Center, 950 North Main, Centerville. Friends and family may visit Monday, between 6 and 8 pm at Russon Brothers Mortuary, 295 North Main, Bountiful, or 9:45 – 10:45 am at the church prior to the funeral service. Interment will be at the Farmington City Cemetery.
