Shannell Cardwell Crabtree completed her mission here on earth as she passed away peacefully July 21, 2024. She will be one of God’s finest angels in her new Heavenly Home. She waged a valiant 12-year battle with cancer. Her final months were spent at home close to her family, who have loved and cared for her.
Shannell was born on September 25, 1978, in Ogden, Utah, to her parents David Daniel and Becky Oram Cardwell. During her early years, she was known for her great Faith, and her commitment to learning and hard work. She loved music and was often found playing her favorite songs on the piano. She made many pieces of art including many cross-stitches. She also loved to read and she often studied Hebrew interpretations of the Bible.
Left to remember her exceptional life is her Eternal companion Brandon, who stood by and cared for her over the 25 years they were married, and their 6 children including Carson (22), Aidan (21), Erika (20), Evelyn (19), Dandara (18), and Spencer (11). Because of their love of children and their desire to expand their family, they adopted 5 of their 6 children. She is also survived by her brother Dean (Angie) Cardwell of Little Elm, Texas, and many nieces, nephews, and extended family. She is preceded in death by her younger sister Hilary Cardwell Dickerson, who passed in 2015.
Shannell loved her job at Northrop Grumman and the many wonderful people she worked with. She had friends who loved and respected her. She worked in several key positions focusing on the work of the H/R Department. She was an inspiration to all who worked with her. She graduated with honors from Weber State University.
Shannell’s number one priority was her family and the Savior. Her best friend was Brandon and she always found ways to strengthen their relationship. Shannell was a special woman who was always trying to help others. She was a successful fund raiser for many, and found ways to help the person with more than just the funds.
She was an active member of the Huckleberry LDS Ward in Syracuse, and filled many callings with heart and sacrifice for those in need. She was always happy and a fun person to be around. She made jokes all of the time. She was positive and made a real difference in people’s lives regardless of the challenges she faced. She said that the Syracuse Temple was her Temple. She attended the Temple often, even in the most difficult of times.
