Sharon Long McNally

April 26, 1940 — July 26, 2021

Our beloved mom, grandma, and great grandma has gone home where she waits for us in the arms of Jesus. She is preceded in death by her husband Nelson “Mac” of 54 years, her parents, Sam and Polly Long, her daughter-in-law, Lynnette McNally and her great granddaughter, Marina Jensen. She is survived by her brother, Johnnie Long (Suzanne), her four children, Dana Bryant (Rob), Keith McNally (Susan), Shauna McNally and Marni Anderson (Bryan), along with nine grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren.

Our sweet momma came from humble beginnings. Born in a small house in Menard, Texas, she later moved to Washington where her mother was a “Rosie the Riveter” during WW2.

They then lived on a ranch outside of San Angelo, Texas. In 1951, they moved as a family to the Chicago area where she later graduated from Leyden High School.

From there, she attended Abilene Christian College, where she met and then married Nelson. Their life together began in Colorado and ended in Utah. Her life was ruled by her faith in God and was evidenced in her huge, humble heart.

Sharon had a heart of service and hospitality. She constantly opened her home to others and cared for guests like her own family. Even in her last days she wished she could cook for those coming to visit. Sharon was creative and artistic and loved to laugh. Her wit and sense of humor was always present, even when she was in pain. She had a love for learning. She was an avid reader who loved romance, history, politics and learning about other cultures. Her work with the airlines allowed her to travel all over the world and experience them firsthand.  Her favorite book was the Bible and she never stopped studying it, always learning something new.

She cherished her precious children, grandchildren, church family and friends whose hearts will forever carry the imprint of her love.  Sharon’s story cannot end without mentioning her role as big sister to her little brother Johnnie “Rookie” and the extraordinary lifelong bond they shared.

Visitation will be held at Russon Brothers Mortuary 1941 No Main, Farmington, UT 84025, Friday July 30 from 6:00 – 8:00pm and Saturday July 31 from 9:45 – 10:45am.  Funeral Services will be held at 11:00am. Interment to follow at Kaysville City Cemetery.

The family would also like to share our heartfelt thanks to her wonderful caregivers. Isela Negrete who provided years of home care and a loving friendship.  Also, the compassionate staff at Legacy House Bountiful, who cared for Sharon during her final weeks.
