Sharon Louise Langston

March 17, 1942 — December 6, 2018

“I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:  Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day…” 2 Timothy 4: 7-8

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, Sharon Louise Droge Langston. She passed away peacefully during the evening of December 6, 2018 after a 15-year battle with Parkinson’s disease.

Sharon was born on March 17, 1942 in Culver City, CA to Josephine Wood Naylor Droge and Clarence Herbert Droge. She was the eldest living of seven siblings. As a child and young adult, she was admired for being honest, kind, and obedient in all things. Sharon began attending the University of Utah in 1960 to become a teacher. She graduated with Honors in 1964 and left to serve a full-time mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served until 1966 in the Andes-Peru mission. She was a righteous and faithful missionary.

She married Coy Lavern Langston in 1972 in the Salt Lake City LDS temple. She gave birth to three children: Coy Loren Langston, Michelle Louise Langston, and Valerie Leona Langston. She was a stay-at-home Mom devoted to her children before returning to teaching in 1985. She remained a teacher until her retirement in 2002. She was a well-respected teacher who was devoted to helping students with all learning disabilities succeed! Sharon was diagnosed with stage two breast cancer in 2003. She fought bravely through to recovery. She was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease within two years of recovering from cancer. She continued to persevere against Parkinson’s debilitating effects for 15 years; working for many years as an ordinance worker in the Bountiful LDS temple. She was always anxiously engaged.

Sharon never complained or became bitter, even as her illness advanced. She exemplified the meaning of enduring until the end. She touched the lives of so many and will remain cherished for her service to others and love of all.

She is survived by her husband Coy Lavern Langston and three children: Coy Langston, Jr., Michelle Hanna, Valerie Langston; her four grandchildren: Sheleece Beers, Brianna Langston, Noah Hanna, and Jonah Hanna; two great grandchildren: Evylinn and Lillian Beers; and her siblings Gary Droge (deceased), Ronald Droge, Nola Freeman, Nancy Saunders, Mary Ann Smith, and Lynn Droge.

A viewing will be held Tuesday, December 11th from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Russon Mortuary, 295 North Main Street, Bountiful, UT. A second viewing will be held Wednesday, December 12th from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. at the LDS chapel at 1465 North 300 West in Bountiful, UT. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be at the Bountiful City Cemetery.
