Sharon Renee Lynch Williams, loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, and grandmother has left us too soon after a brief and courageous battle with cancer. On Friday the 1st of April 2022, at the age of 71, she passed away while sleeping in the arms of her loving daughters. She was a resident of Fruit Heights, Utah, but was blessed to spend her final days living in the homes of her children, among her grandchildren.
The fifth of eight children born to Eugene and Eva Lynch, Sharon came into this world on August 7, 1950. She grew among her siblings Richard, Gerald, Anne, Paul, Kaye, Ronald, and Terry in Ogden, Utah. She graduated from Ogden High School and later from Weber State University with a bachelor’s degree in interior design. She married Darrell Jones on January 19, 1973, in Ogden where they began their family. Darrell and Sharon eventually moved to Layton, Utah where they raised their five children Jeramy, Cody, Jamie, Colby and Halie. Sharon adored her family and dedicated her whole heart to creating a beautiful home for her children to grow in. Her unfailing love and support for them was rivaled only by her tremendous faith. Never doubting the love of her Father in Heaven, she often questioned his methods. Throughout her life she would often say, “When I get up there, I’m going to have some questions for him.” And she expected answers. Sharon’s character was one of gratitude and joy. It could be said that her favorite activity was to sit with those she loved and laugh. A close second would be sitting with her toes in the sand. Her favorite places all involved beaches, the closest being Bear Lake. The Lynch family legacy on the shores of that lake began when she was just a child and her father built a generational cabin that still endures.
Sharon was industrious and had an incredible work ethic. As an accomplished cook and baker her skills were in constant demand. Every family dinner and special occasion required her famous rolls (her mother’s recipe and a family secret. Well, more of a mystery than a secret because there really is no recipe. Some might argue that it has its roots in alchemy). Her cakes were a celebration and an event in and of themselves. These expressions of love she continued to produce up until just days before she returned to her heavenly home. After perfecting the art of homemaking, and when it held no more challenges for her, she began a very successful career in real estate for John W. Hansen and Associates and later at Prudential where she helped countless clients find homes. She also worked as a moderately successful travel agent for several decades. Her vacation packages and planning were impeccable, but her spouse and children were her only clients, and she always lost money on the deal. She later married Jay Williams on March 26, 2010. They served together in the Japan, Okinawa mission from 2013-2014.
While Sharon always tried to be positive, focusing on the good of any situation, she also saw the potential for continuous improvement. She gently reminded those around her of that possibility and strove for that ideal herself. Especially when it came to her wardrobe (Nordstrom’s stock dipped 3 percent on April 2nd). But Sharon’s life was not lived without challenges. Perhaps the greatest being the loss of her son Cody when he was 20 years old. She took comfort in believing she would be reunited with him soon.
Sharon is preceded in death by her parents Eugene and Eva; brothers Richard, Gerald, and Paul; her son Cody.
She is survived by husband Jay Williams; her siblings Anne Swanson, Kaye Seger, Ron Lynch, Terry Costley; her Children Jeramy Jones (Diana), Jamie Hammond (Jason), Colby Jones (Meagan), Halie Parke (Tory); as well as 15 grandchildren that she adored, countless nieces and nephews, and endless friends. She will be missed.
