Sharon Barnes (Schwieder) Westergard, age 79, of Woods Cross, Utah passed away at her home and rejoined her sweetheart June 22, 2015. Born October 6, 1935 in Idaho Falls, Idaho to Arthur Carvel Schwieder and Olive Barnes. Sharon was the oldest of 5 daughters and grew up in Iona, Idaho. When she started school she adopted the name of "Sherry" since there were three girls in her class named Sharon. She loved growing up in a small town and being surrounded by her extended family, something she always cherished. Sherry met her sweetheart Wayne O Westergard in kindergarten at which time he declared, "one day he would marry her"! In high school she was active in chorus, pep club and anything that involved music. After high school graduation Wayne and Sherry married in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple Aug 21, 1953. They began married life in Logan, Utah as Utah State college students and after Wayne's graduation moved to Woods Cross, Utah where they settled and raised their four children. As a long time community resident and an active member of the LDS church Sherry served numerous times as Ward and Stake Relief Society and Young Women's president and later in her life with Wayne as service missionaries and nursery leaders. She was a great influence to many women and especially the young women she served, mentored and loved dearly. Throughout her life she always referred to the young women she served as "her girls." She loved to accompany her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren on the piano as they would gather around her and sing their favorite songs. Time with family building memories at their cabin in Star Valley Ranch, Wyoming and traveling the world with her sisters and spouses were some of her favorite activities. She had a great talent of making all those in her presence feel special and important. She seldom if ever missed any activity or special event in the lives of her children or grandchildren lives; the miles never kept her away. Sherry is preceded in death by her husband Wayne by two months, her parents, and a sweet granddaughter JaKelle Michelle Westergard. Sherry is survived by her children Richard (Carrie) Westergard-AZ; Allen (Sylvia) Westergard-VA; Lynn (Jana) Westergard-AZ; and Karin (Todd) Smith-UT; siblings Jean Smith, Barbara Heaton, Celia Streit, and Clarice Miller.
