Sharon Seamons Stoddard

August 22, 1936 — September 26, 2021

A beloved daughter, sister, wife, and mother, Sharon Seamons Stoddard was reunited with her eternal companion and many loved ones when she passed through the veil on September 26, 2021.

Sharon’s parents rejoiced when she was born in the picturesque town of Preston, Idaho, on August 22, 1936. She was the daughter of Royce Porter and Adra Bennett Seamons and the middle child in her family-the magic link between her older brother, Royce Lamont, and her younger sister, Marlene Seamons O’Niones.

Sharon spent her youth in Idaho where she attended elementary and middle schools in Preston. She graduated from Montpelier High School before she met her lifelong companion, best friend, and husband, Jon Beattie Stoddard, at a Brigham Young University dance. They married in the Idaho Falls Temple on August 12, 1955. The couple enjoyed a lifetime of travels together. Sharon also had an affinity for crocheting, sewing, and quilting.

She was also a collector extraordinaire who accumulated over 1,000 intricate and delicate dolls. But, of all her collections, she treasured her five children-Valarie Holbrook (David); Joi Lanez Davies (Blaine); Jon Kurtis; Randal Royce; and Jeffrey Thomas (Michelle)-as well as 13 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.

In addition to her incredible posterity, Sharon lived a life of service as a Sunday School coordinator, Primary stake secretary, Relief Society teacher, pianist, and chorister for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Outside of church and family, she was an insurance adjuster in the insurance industry for many years before taking on the roles she cherished most as a wife, mother, and grandmother.

A celebration of Sharon’s life will include a graveside burial service at Bountiful City Cemetery on Saturday, October 2nd, 2021. The service will include pallbearers Randal, Kurtis, Jeffrey, Josh, Conner and Ian Stoddard, as well as Derek and Kyle Davies and Michael McDonald. David Holbrook and Blaine Davies are honorary pallbearers.

The family would like to express its appreciation and gratitude to Atlas Hospice and Sunridge Assisted Living in Layton, Utah, for their exceptional, empathetic care.
