After a long and painful illness, Sharyl Lyn Register, 56, has returned to her Heavenly Father on September 12, 2015. Sharyl grew up in Bountiful, Utah, and was a sassy, stubborn, independent woman who loved her family.
Sharyl married Glenn Alan Register on April 28, 1978 in the Salt Lake City Temple. She and Glenn enjoyed the disease-free years of their marriage, and during this time welcomed three redheaded daughters into their family. Glenn and Sharyl created a home where neighbors, friends, friends-of-friends, and acquaintances felt comfortable and at ease, welcomed and accepted.
Sharyl had a big impact on the youth in her church, and spent several years working with the young men and young women in her area. She had a big heart, and was very accepting of everyone. She did her best to help everyone feel accepted just as they were, while providing the support and encouragement needed to reach their full potential.
When Sharyl was released from her responsibilities with the youth, she hid in her closet and cried.
She enjoyed practical jokes, and frequently prank-called family members and friends. She loved spending time with her husband, daughters, siblings, and parents, and enjoyed Sunday drives, wrestling matches (in her healthier years), shouting matches (real and fake), whistle blowing (which involved her smuggling a whistle to bed and scaring the crap out of her husband), food hoarding, and interpretive dance (making fun of it that is).
Sharyl received exceptional, constant care from her husband, Glenn, throughout the 31 years of her illness, and often expressed her gratitude for (and to) him. We know she is eternally thankful for the help and support he gave.
Sharyl will be remembered as an intelligent, funny, and tenacious woman who fought until the end with everything she had. We will miss her, but also know there are things for her to accomplish as she progresses to the next phase of her existence. Sharyl knows that her Savior, Jesus Christ, and her loving Heavenly Father helped her fight her disease while on the earth, and that they will continue to guide her and her family.
Sharyl is survived by her husband, Glenn Register, Daughters Kelly (Jeremy), Kayla, Katie (David) grandchildren; Ivin, William, and Henry, her parents Lamont and Lorene Fowler, her siblings, nieces, nephews, cousins, and countless family members who love her.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 16, at the Bountiful 39th Ward, 1500 S 600 E. Friends and family may visit Tuesday evening from 6-8 p.m., at the Russon Brothers Mortuary, 295 North Main, or Wednesday at the church from 9:45-10:45 a.m. prior to the service. Interment will be at the Salt Lake City Cemetery.
