North Salt Lake, Utah – Sheila Royall, our beloved wife, mother and grandmother unexpectedly passed away at home on June 17, 2021 at the age of 76. Sheila was born on June 5, 1945, in Shelley, Idaho as the oldest daughter of George Raymond and Jeness Gotch Balmforth.
Sheila grew up in Idaho Falls and was a very accomplished pianist winning many awards during her youth. Upon graduation from Idaho Falls High School, Sheila attended Brigham Young University and received her nursing degree.
While working at LDS hospital she met David Royall. Following a brief courtship they were married in the Salt Lake Temple on November 18, 1966. Sheila and David were blessed with seven children; 2 sons and 5 daughters.
Sheila was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in various capacities including children, youth, and womens organization presidencies. No matter where she lived, she frequently served as the ward organist. Her gift of music brought her and many others comfort and peace.
Sheila worked as a registered nurse for over 48 years blessing countless individuals and families throughout her career. Among her many talents, she was an outstanding pianist and organist, an exceptional cook and excelled as a seamstress.
Sheila’s greatest legacy was service to others. Her greatest source of joy was her family whom she fiercely loved, cherished, and protected. She taught her family the principles of hard work, loyalty, and sacrifice.
Sheila is survived by her husband, W. David Royall, her children Matthew (Teresa), Rachel (Michael) Davidson, Jennifer (David) Petermann, Rebekah (Bevan) Hinton, Nathan (Jennifer), Elizabeth (Michael) Hernandez, and Erin (Reed) Carlson, twenty-four grandchildren and one great-grandson on the way. She is also survived by her two sisters, a sister-in-law, and two brothers-in-law and their spouses; Teresa (Mickeal) Dahle, Margo (James) Lamoreaux, Jacquie Balmforth, Paul (Joyce) Royall, and Phil (Laurie) Royall.
Sheila is preceded in death by her parents, George and Jeness Balmforth, brothers Paul, Brent, David, Kevin, and sisters Tamara and Kathleen.
A viewing will be held on Thursday, June 24, 2021 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Russon Mortuary, 295 North Main Street, Bountiful. Per Sheila’s request there will be no funeral. A graveside service for family and friends will be held Friday, June 25, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at the Bountiful City Cemetery located at 2224 So. 200 West, Bountiful.
