Sherry Jackson

June 19, 1934 — January 4, 2014

Sherry was born to loving parents, Leroy Jessop Shaffer and Pearl Stocks Shaffer Christensen. She was the 4th of 7 children.
She is preceded in death by her mother, father, step-father Ruben Christensen and 2 brothers, Dal Shaffer and Brent Christensen, 2 sisters – Cosette Shaffer and Arlee Bales.
She leaves behind her loving family, Debra Christensen, James (Sarah-Joy) Neaderhiser, Robert (Cindy) Neaderhiser, Kristie Rhodes (Steve Powell), step-sons, Gary Cunningham and Colin Cunningham; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Roene VanNoy and Marsha Pilgeram; and many nieces and nephews.
Sherry returned to school and received her LPN nursing degree in 1971. She worked in the emergency room at South Davis Hospital and then as a surgical nurse at Lakeview Hospital for 35 years until she retired.
She became a member of the UT Daughters of the Pioneers in 1997. She held several positions in her John Pack DUP camp. She also worked as a docent at the International Daughters of the Pioneer Museum for 8 years until her illness forced her to quit.
She was a volunteer at the Bountiful LDS Temple twice a month answering phones. She enjoyed talking to people. She also worked as a phone operator taking reservations for 10 new LDS Temple open houses over the last 15 years. She held many positions in her ward over the years.
She was a very special person and well loved by everyone who knew her.
Mom, Grandma, Sister, Aunt, we will miss you very much. Your loving family.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, January 9, 2014 at the West Bountiful 1st Ward, 311 North 800 West. Friends and family may visit Wednesday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary, 295 North Main and Thursday morning at the church 1 hour prior to services. Interment- Bountiful City Cemetery.
